We’re makin’ waffles today friends! This easy waffle stitch crochet tutorial is 100% less sticky than your breakfast, and easier than popping one in the toaster.
Ok, that last part might be a stretch, but this is suitable for an adventurous beginner. The only stitches required are chain, double crochet, and front post double crochet. (You can find a tutorial for front and back post stitches here!)

There is something so satisfying about this pattern. Those perfect squares are just ripe for squishing. It makes a beautifully textured blanket, and is perfect for cotton hand towels.
Ok, on to the fun stuff. As always, I have a written tutorial with photos for you, plus a video tutorial that can be found at the bottom of the page.

Foundation chain: To begin, chain a multiple of 3, plus 2. I began with 20 chains.

Row 1: dc in 4th chain from hook, and each stitch across

Row 2: ch 2 (counts as a stitch now and throughout), turn, *FPdc around next st, dc in next 2 sts, rep from * across to last two sts, FPdc, dc in turning chain.
*Tip: Your last stitch will always be worked into the turning chain.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until your piece reaches the desired length.
I like to finish off with a repeat of row 2 for nice even squares.
